Hello, I want to decorate my room, i would like plain painted walls (either white or powder blue), im unable to get to the shops and mum can't seem to find any plain paper like i want (with the plan to paint over as my walls have cracks in), she says that they all ahve patterns/textures on. How do i go about getting simple, plain coloured walls?

The best option is to fix the cracks in the walls. Painting over wallpaper is not something you really want to do. We always recommend removing wallpaper before painting.
How big are these cracks? Plaster or sheetrock (drywall)?

i think you may be talking about wall liner. but that's really for hanging wallpaper over, not painting over.
like Bob said, best route would be to fix the cracks, skimcoating, & what not. then painting. if the walls are pretty bad, though, a little texture would be a good thing. they make wallpapers that have different random textures on them, or deliberate patterns, that are meant to be hung & then painted. sort of like Anaglypta but with smooth backs.
