Whirlpool built in electric oven about 6 years old, model# RBS305PDQ6. Worked fine, used the autoclean for 3.5 hours, opened it up, oven clean, appeared normal. Next day went to use bake/broil and neither element works. Light and fan works. Checked breaker. Shut off power to oven and left it, turned back on, nothing. No digital error message. What might be wrong and what might the cost to fix/have fixed be? :( Thanks, Haskells

There is a thermostat that is located in the back of the oven. You must pull the oven out of the wall and remove the center back panel to access this thermostat. You can verify that the thermostat is bad with a continuity tester. If you read an open the 'stat is bad. This is a common thing to happen to Whirlpool ovens after self cleaning. You will have to replace this thermostat. The FSP replacement part number is 4451442.
The thermostat blew due to excessive temperature around the outside of the oven cavity. Make sure the blower fan is operating and circulating air properly. I have contacted Whirlpool about this problem and the only recommendation they could provide is to shorten the cleaning time by at least an hour.
If you are a do-it-yourself kind of person, it isn't that hard to change out. The hardest part is pulling out the oven and re-installing it. Just remember to disconnect power to the oven :eek:
The cost of the thermostat can run anywhere around $20 or so.
