My storm door handle brass coating is gone and looks ugly. As it is at doorstep as welcome to all visitors, i wanted to do something about it.
When i looked in Lowes it costs around $29. Didn't made sense to replace when the only problem is the coating. Any suggestions and tips what can be done and how.

Handle can be removed and lacquer removed with lacquer remover. Brass can be polished with quality metal polish, residue wiped off with lacquer remover, and then sprayed with two or three coats of clear lacquer. Inevitably, the brass will again oxidize and the process will have to be repeated.
