Model JW521003 installed in 1991 has a problem with the Nite Light control setting.
I went to replace one of the 2 40watt lamps and it broke off in the socket . Power was on in the Nite light setting and must have shorted something on the curcuit board. Now only the normal setting of the 2 40watt lamps work . I can hear the click of the relay for the Nite Light setting but no lamps light. I must have burn`t a fuseable link or fuse with the short on the lamp socket .The main breaker didn`t open and everything else is working on the oven with the exception of the 2 nite lights. :wall:
What is proceedure to open the front to access the keypad curcuit board , maybe I will see the problem.
Appreciate any info on this problem.
thanks,
william

It's probably a blown trace on the circuit board assocaited with the light control relays.

Sometimes the relay itself will be blown, too. It may have a solid state relay, and that is most often the culprit.

Since yours is a 1991 model, it's probably a mechanical relay.

They may not tell you in the manual, but the power should always be disconnected when changing light bulbs. The surges generated can harm the control panel, as you have found.

First, unplug that power. *grin!* Usually one has to remove the grille over the top edge, then a screw to remove the control panel will be visible.

When that screw's out, you probably need to pull gently up & out to move the control panel assembly away from the oven. It may hinge down, too.

You need to carefully and precisely mark the wires before disconneting them from the control panel, then you can pull it away.

You'll see the circuit board mounted behind the keypad. A bank of relays should be present. Under one marked LIGHT you may see a blown trace, etc., as discusssed above.
