I just bought this house four months ago. In the beginning the fan and cooling are working. we didnt check the heating. Last week when we try to start heating, nothing works (including fan, cooling and heating). I changed a transfomer, and then fan is working. But when I switch the thamastat to Heat, the fan stop, and heating didnt start. If I switch off the heat, fan is working again. Any idea what is the problem? How much I need to pay for fix it?

I really appreciate your help.

what is the name of the heat pump and the air handler. and how did you come to the conclusion that you need a transformer? also what kind of thermostat is on the system and how old is the entire thing .
