HELP!!! Brother gifted me his Amana LWA40AW2 large capacity washer, not very old. Great in terms of capacity, but literally have to reset to the rinse cycle 4 times to get all of the soap out. Have cut the amount of soap in half, checked to make sure there is not problem in the draining cycle, or flushing back of suds from the sink (into which the water drains.) All cycles working properly, water filling to appropriate levels... am at a loss.
Used this same washer when it was in their basement with no problem. Don't know if something shifted during the move to my basement. ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS, PLEASE??? Single mom trying to keep expenses down, but can't spend this much time with one load of laundry!!
Also..... is there some way to get rid of the mildewy smell in washing machines? Have tried bleaching this baby down, washing up under the edges of the tub, can't get the inside 'cup' out of the agitator to completely clean..... Hmm.... maybe not such a gift, eh?
Back to the basement for the next rinse cycle. Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom, or suggestions! :0)

If it is not already make sure the drain hose goes up over the top of the washer[higher than the washer] then down into the sink.I would probably wash all the clothes once[or until no soap appeared in the water] with no detergent and then use less soap all the time
Here is you washer. Look at the drain hose and syphon break pic.

Here is the cap you can't get off with a number of views on the side'

Does your drain line go into a stand pipe behind the washer or is it trying to pump the water up along the wall a long distance? If pumping a long distance, it could be draining back into your washer after the spin cycle letting the soapy water back onto your clothes. Dave
