We are putting a putting a couple bedrooms downstairs in our house. The outer walls and a few inner walls were rebuilt a couple years ago. I built a partition wall and doorway in one along with an egress window and exterior door(it is a walkout).
Now we are working on the second room. I got a egress window put in but I am trying to figure out what to do with the doorway. There is a alot of duct work overhead(it is finished in) and the ceiling is only 73-74 inches.
We need to put a doorway in and we have the ceiling causing a problem. I cant really move it further into the room. As the ceiling is dropped lower like this for about 3 feet than it does back to the basements higher level.
I was thinking of bringing the wall out enough just to have the jam clear the ducts. So the door will be close to even with the lower ceiling.
I just dont want the doorway eating a couple more inches of headroom.
How do I do this?
Make sense?
