I’m planning to install a Laminate floor over a concrete slab that was part of a workshop. The area has now been enclosed. I’m planning to rent a terrazzo grinder to prep the floor and then apply a penetrating sealer to handle moisture problems.

Can anyone recommend a sealer? I’m looking at Stone Technologies’ X2 Sealer, and have also considered Concrete Remedy DS which is a bit more expensive, and Hydra Loc at concretesealants.com. The concrete sealer at Moxie International was interesting but almost twice the cost of other sealers. Is the X2 Sealer a good choice?

There was a note on this site about Alloc laminate flooring for use in wet environments like a kitchen. There are some nice Alloc products in our price range but would like some feedback on use in the kitchen.

A local flooring specialist also recommended the better laminates for kitchen use and suggested that there are products that can be used to seal the joints of other products that may not have a moisture resistant seal built into their joints.

What do you think? Are there suitable and affordable laminates out there for kitchen use?

Thanks in advance for your comments
