How difficult is it to re-stretch carpet? We have 2 rooms that need it. One is fairly small and square, but the other room is about 14 x 20 with built-ins, bay windows, fireplace, etc. that the carpet needs to fit around - definitely not a simple square room.

Could a homeowner with no experience rent the tools and do it in a single day, or should we hire a professional? If we hire someone, how much should we expext to pay? Also, I might try to barter with someone to get the work done. If so, what should their qualifications be?

Thanks for any and all advice.

I wouldn't say it is something you can't handle, unless there is a seam that needs to be busted apart and re-seamed, to restretch properly.

My restretching services start at .22¢ a sq.ft. and go up from there depending on furniture, and if any seams need to be reworked. Or there is the case, where I pull apart an existing seam in the original installation, that was not originally constructed properly.
