I have a house that I am getting ready to sell. Currently the front porch doesn't have any rails, but I wanted to dress it a little by installing some. The floor of the porch is cement. The sides of the porch are no problem because of the distance between column posts. The problem comes in on one side of the steps where the distance between column posts is 10' 1". Would I be better off to plan on two rails in this area with some type of post between them, or can I use a rail the entire length and put a block or two underneath.

Most Places Have A Code For Handrails. If One Is Required Due To Hieght Of The Porch Or Deck You Can Ask Your Local Building Inspector However Appearence Wise A Couple Of Treated Lumber Blocks Centered On The Opening Should Do Just Fine.
