I have a GE natural gas range, about 15 yrs. old. The oven stopped working, yet the broiler works. I checked the ignitor coil for the oven, and it was burned out, so I replaced it. Everything is plugged back in OK. the coil still won't light. I checked the new coil, and it is not defective. The broiler still works. What else could be wrong, and how can I fix it?
Thanx for any help you can provide.

Hello claude and Welcome to the Do It Yourself Web Site and my Gas Appliances topic.
To determine exactly what is wrong also depends on the model. If the ocen has a rotating thermostat dial, thermostat may be defective, fuse may be blown, bad connection somewhere, etc.
If you are handy and have a volt ohm meter, unplug the appliance. Turn thermostat on and test for continuity at the wires that go to the hot surface ignitor.
Remove the igntior first. Test by putting the meters probes into the quick disconnect lead going to the hot surface glow ignitor. (HSI) Should be continuity.
Check across the terminal ends on the gas control valve. Should also be continuity. Amounts of resistence not so important as having continuity, at this point in time.
Look for a fuse where the power cord enters the oven. May be covered to protect it but may be one there somewhere. Not all ovens have them but check for one anyway.
If the control panel is touch pad type, advise.
Retail parts dealers and appliances parts stores can also help determine what the possible problem may be based upon that specific brand and model. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Dealers and appliances parts stores are listed in the phone book.
Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, repair and or owners manuals which may be available online.
Cautionary Note:
Before attempting any repairs, be sure to unplug the appliance from the wall receptacle power source first.
