Solid Hardwood, Engineered and Laminate Flooring - Plan B - Laminate Flooring

Hi, we are doing a kitchen remodel and we are now at the floor phase. Originally, we were going to remove the old layers of vinyl/linoleum to get down to the original hardwood floors, but after having samples of the old flooring tested, it was found that they were 70% asbestos.

I'm guessing asbestos removal is an expensive route to go, so I think now we are going to lay a new laminate floor over the old flooring, which is original hardwood on the bottom, covered by 1/4in ply, and then some type of sheet linoleum/vinyl flooring. Does anyone forsee any problems here? Is it okay to float the floor over these layers?

Also, there is a slight slope in the floor because it is an old house, which is to say none of the floors are perfectly flat/even. Is this going to be a problem? Do I need to even/level things out first? If so, how would I do it?

Is there any way you could seal this floor before the laminate?I think that I would try to seal it, and level it.But if you level this floor what can of worms do you open later? :coffee:
