Hi

I talked with installer that I am planning to hire to install engineer wood floor by floating technique. I am planning to install this wood floor everywhere except bedrooms where it will be carpet. Installer told me that if I want to save money, I don;t need to buy transition molding (baby threadhold) for wood floor to carpet. What do you guys think about his suggestions? thanks.

Manufacturer's installation instructions should be followed to assure warranty coverage. As floor will be floating it stands to reason that it will need the protection of the baby threshold and to make the transition to carpet. Floating floor will be subject to lots of movement in the threshold area.

I have done it without a transition due to clients demands. Use a Z-bar for the carpet. The face yarn of the carpet, is not going to lock it in, unless he gets it too tight.

You always have the option to use an endcap later, if it doesn't work out for you.
