Hi

I read article about install transition molding for wood floor. They mentioned about high pile and low pile carpet. What are they? how can I know my carpet is low or high pile? thanks.

cut loop or plush carpet (where the strands of carpet are standing up) is high pile, berber and indoor/outdoor kitchen carpet (where the stands are looped over) are low pile.

A low pile or glued down commercial carpet could possibly take a reducer. For high pile where carpet is approximately the same height as wood floor, a baby threshold is often used as a transitional piece.
