I'm in the process of gutting my family room. Rewiring will consist of new electrical and speaker wire, and also moving the phone and cable lines.

I remember seeing a post here a while back about what wires can and can't cross, but I can't seem to find it.

Could someone please help me and let me know how to do the wiring? I'm not sure what to bundle, or if I need to keep one or more lines a certain distance from another.

Thanks all !!!

It is only the electrical wires that are a concern. All other wires can cross the electrical. It is best to cross them at 90º. Don't run them parallel to electrical closer than 1 foot. Phone and cable wires can be bundled together if you wish.

The reason for this is to prevent electrical noise causing interference.

thanks. Not sure I fully understand though. So I can bundle cable, speaker and phone wires, and leave the electrical by itself?

Also, the wires are going to cross at some point, but are you saying that as long as they are not bundled with the electrical, crossing is not an issue?

Thanks !!

Do not run electrical wire for more than 6" in parralel with any other wire type, i.e speaker, telephone etc.

Better to cross at 90 degrees.

6" in parallel...but how far apart? They are going to have to run parallel at some point, right?
