I have some antique cast/wrought iron pieces. Old stove pieces, Griswold and the like, but they are rusty. I have tried cleaning them with rust remover, but then they turn white. What should I use? Should I just paint them black? THX

When reconditioning wood stoves I remove the rust with sandpaper and wire brushes
I clean the surfaces with Pre from Eastwood Co. or lacquer thinner
I then spray paint them with a high temp stove paint from Pete's Cycles and Stoves
I have also used the Rustoleum high temp stove paint
I have also used "stove black" but not often and I don't recommend it

Naval jelly is a good rust remover.
