I'm trying to do things right this time. I always cut (hack) then kick, then cut some more but I'm wondering if thats the right way. The jobs seem to turn out OK but I'm know there's a better way.
BTW, I use an olfa knife. Does the carpet edger work well for a DIYer.

A knee kicker is for POSITIONING carpet, not stretching. Do a search here. There's plenty info on that topic that needs not be typed over and over.

Sorry to be redundant, just being lazy.
Fair enough, I will browse through and piece together the process.
BTW I was planning on renting a power stretcher which is one of the world's greatest inventions and I used one last time. I still need to kick along the sides per the instructions that come with the stretcher. When I release the stretcher, everything seems to re-arrange and I wind up kicking and cutting or stretching again. I will get it right yet. Baseboards are being left on so my cuts need to be precise as I can't hide them.

Trim it last. Rub the carpet into the strip with a hammer. Leave excess up the walls until you are done stretching.
Place a 2x4 between the drywall and the stretcher tail to prevent drywall damage since there will be no wall base.
