Hi

Can anyone advise on how to remove a wallpaper border which runs all round the top of my walls. It's been pasted onto the wallpaper and I want to be able to retain the wallpaper for painting. I am worried that if I try and steam the border off the wallpaper will come away too and I will have to remove it all and re paper.

Thanks.

There is a 99.99999% chance that you will ever get the border off successfully. All the ways to remove the border will try to bring the paper with it. And if the border was installed with border adhesive, then it is there until the paper comes down.

You also mention you want to save the paper to paint over it. That is a huge no-no. If you want to paint, remove the wallpaper, prep the walls, then paint.

if you're going to be painting wallpaper, why bother removing the border at all? you're going to be able to see the wallpaper seams through the paint anyway, so what's another seam at the top?

do it right & take it ALL down first.
