Please help me. I can do some plumbing but not all. My boyfriend thought he would be cute and try and get me mad. He turned off the hot water going to the shower on me. Please explain to me how he did this so that I don't have to take cold showers. He said that he turned a lever but the only thing i saw were valves which only led to the kitchen sink. Please help.

First, dump the boyfriend, this isn't funny. Do you have hot water at the sink in that bathroom? Somewhere between the hot water heater and the shower is a shut off valve for the hot water. I would suspect this is not the same line as the lav, so you probably do have hot water in the sink. If not, look under the sink and there should be a valve each for the cold and the hot water. Turn them both clockwise if you're not sure which is which. If this isn't the case, try to trace the path of the water pipes from the hot water heater to the shower and you should find a valve along the way.

Hello; lynad43
Another thought along the same lines as J.M.C. mentioned, if there isn't any hot water coming out of any faucets in the house, the main cold water inlet line (pipe) into the hot water heater is likely turned off.
That inlet cold water line is located above the water heater on the right hand side of the tank above the tank. That line should have a valve on it with a lever handle or most likely does have a lever on it.
If the lever is crosswise to the pipe, it is turned off. Turn it parallel (inline) with the pipe. Doing so will allow incoming cold water while pushing out hot water. Problem should be solved.
I'll avoid and refrain from commenting on what you should do with or to boyfriend.... :D
