Hi, my 1yr old ceiling fan/light mysteriously will no longer work. After reading all ceiling fan entries, I'm convinced this is a new issue.

A photo of my ceiling wiring is at http://homepage.mac.com/adom/PhotoAlbum11.html. Just click on "Ceiling-Fan-Problem" and a larger picture will show.

I used a non-contacting tester and the red wire has no current, white has no current and the taped/twisted black wire has current. Previously, the fan was wired to the white and red wires.

How can I go about trouble shooting and fixing this?

Was the fan controlled by switch? If it was then the red wire should show power when the switch is turned on. If it does not then you have a bad switch probably. If the red shows power when you turn on the switch then you have a bad fan probably.

Thanks Joed! Testing revealed that the switch was bad (red wire at switch hot, at fan NOT) and 78 cents later, had a working fan. You're the best!
