My bedroom set is in espresso, look nice but easy to get dusty. My bedroom is not too big, not to small, I can fit in a king bed, an airmore, 2 bedside tables and a low chest w/ mirror, and no space for a chair. Anyway, currently, I have window treatment in velvet taupe. My husband said it is too heavy for the bedroom, and my friends said it has green in it, which I don't like. The color of the bedroom is neutral earth tone, I can paint it white if I need to. I look at Pottery Barn dupioni silk drape, they have espresso drape... My question is what color should I match my drape to... to the furniture or to the bedset? Currently I have light blue bedset, but in the summer, I will change it to lime green or yellow. I want to have the option of changing the bedset to any color I want. I want the drape to be in neutral color as possible, but I don't like the taupe (which has little green shade in it)... Can you help? I need to know the rule of thumb of what to match to what so I can go shopping :-)
I don't know how to post picture here, so I send you the link. Please view.

if you want the option of changing your bedcovering from lime green to yellow to blue (are these all just solid colors?), then you've got to keep your walls AND draperies neutral - unless you can find a drapery fabric with all 3 of those colors in it.
what's the flooring?

My carpet is light creamy earth tone color. I thought espresso is neutral, maybe I am wrong...
If you do have to match your drape to the bedding, then you stuck w/ one bedding year round?

And by the way, my green and yellow set are plain, no pattern or flowers or stripes...

personally, i have one set of bedcoverings & i use it year round. the room is decorated around it, as is the bathroom. i don't even know anyone who changes out their bedding, but i've heard of people doing that. those are the same people who are constantly rearranging their furniture, too! (you're not one of Those People, are you?? ;))
what about painting your walls a yellow color? as long as it's lighter or darker than your yellow bedding, it will work with your yellow bedding, as well as the lime green & the blue. and it'll be good with your dark furniture and your light carpet.
as for the draperies, i think i'd make life easier & just go with a shade or blind that matches either the trimwork in the room or your dark furniture. but if you must have drapes, then go with a cream or white that blends well with the carpet.
