I need to split my cable feed into 4 to serve 4 rooms. I just realized I am using a 1 to 6 splitter but only using 4 of the output and 2 were not hooked up.
I am wondering does this matter? Is one of those downstream cable getting 1/4 or 1/6 of the signal strength?
Should I get a better 1 to 4 splitter? I have a cheal AIM 11-4060 900MHz splitter now.
Thanks,
MC

Those two being open shouldn't cause a problem. The splitters I use are the gold, especially when you're doing long runs and multiple splits, you'll get less distortion.

Does the image on the TV look OK? If it does then don't worry about it.

The signals are OK for most of the channels. But channels 2 and 4 I am getting what looks like "contour lines" on three of the TVs and the last one was barely acceptable. However I don't know if this has to do with the splitter.

I am having a similar problem, I just ran co-axil to my upstairs, channel 2 hardly comes in, and lower channels are sorta poor, but everything in the upper channels are crystal clear, any guess to what this could be?

Make sure your splitters are rated at 1 gigahertz or above! I had a similar problem and it was traced back to a cheap Radio Shack splitter that showed no rating. Also... Make sure your splitters are fairly new as they can go bad over time.
