I live in a 12 unit apartment building, with one hot water heater. When I try to take a shower, the water temp is all over the place. And if anyone else in the building is running water at the same time, the water temp jumps around like crazy... suddenly from normal to scalding to freezing to normal to freezing to scalding again, with no gradual adjustment or anything.
I talked to my landlord, and his suggestion was to change what time I take my shower. That is not acceptable.
Is there anything I can do to at the very least make the temp change a little more gradual?

JennyT, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Only thing I can recommend is to change the shower valve to scaldguard type. These make sure the temps do not change drasticly. They also make them that have controlled water balancing. Problem is, in an apartment, you may have to pay for it and the landlord may not let you do it. Good luck.
