Quick question about our showers draining. We have a two bathroom house and the Master is the furthest from the street. We just had the guest bath done about two weeks ago with a new tub, toilet, and sink installed. We really have only used the toilet in the guest bath so far. Here is the problem.
Saturday we both took showers, flushed the toilets, and put a load of laundry in and left the house. We came home to find that both showers had backed up with the master dry but the guest had some water still in the tub. I checked the drain in the master and used some hair clog cleaner in the drain. I then checked the drain in the guest and found what looked like a paper towel that must have been left in the plumbing when the bath was redone. I fished all the debris from the drain with tweezers and there was a little in the overflow. I then used the drain clean in that drain and everything seems to be working ok now. The master shower backed or stopped draining about two days ago but then burped and drained ok after that.
Separately maybe the other day my wife says that the toilet in the guest bath started gurgeling and then stopped. We flushed both near together also on Saturday and they both did not let naything go down. They both flushed fine the next try. I thought this was a venting issue with the toilets but I looked at the water level in the toilet while running the sinks in each bathroom and there was not change in the water level. I also checked the vent pipe on the roof and it seems to be clear as far down as I can see with a flashlight. There are no covers on the vent pipes so maybe I should put screens on them?
