Three weeks ago Hurrican Wilma took off our shingles. Water came in and got the attic insulation wet. Water came through the ceiling and left a stain. We only got wet once for about an hour and the power came back up in two days. How can I tell if the blown in insulation is ok? So far no mold is showing on the ceiling but is there a chance it will come later? Insurance says it will pay to have the insulation sucked out and new blown in but how do they do that? We only have spots in each room and added together they only equal about 15 sq. ft. Any help/info would be appreciated b/c now we have to figure out how to pay a huge re-roofing bill plus a big deductible on a rather small insurance offering so it looks like we will have to rob Peter to pay Paul.

Welcome to the forums
Any stains left by the water should be primed with a good stain hiding primer [solvent based are best]. I don't know how you tell if the insulation has mold but would think smell would be a good indicator.
Mold and mildew take heat and moisture to grow so if everything is dry and stays dry I think you might be ok.
