Hello:

Looks like I will be having my gas fired water heater replaced.
This is the normal cylindrical standing up type.

Independent from the furnace.

Keyspan (Boston area) apparently uses a brand called "American."
This is Not American Standard.

Have never heard of them.
Any opinions on ?

BTW: How's AO Smith these days for quality ?

Thanks,
Bob

Probably American Water Heater Company. They sell under other names such as American Proline, Envirotemp, Mor-Flo, Powerflex, Premier Plus and US Craftmaster. I like their heaters and have had no problems.

Jim-Conner named the brands from this company.

They are a good builder grade of water heater. Have as good of warranty as other water heater brands of same price range.

They do have a decent phone in help desk and their phone tech people are knowledgeable. I do have concerns with their field support in my area and have found this to be the only problem I have with them.

For what its worth... I buy a considerable number of their heaters, on a bid basis, and have no more problems with them as other brands.

Good luck...
