I just installed an Insert into an existing Masonry fireplace. Can I stuff Fibreglass insulation into the opening thar remains above the insert before I install the metal trim plate? This insulation would lie right on top of the insert. Can the Pink handle the heat?

No. A gap around insert is necessary for air circulation. Adequate space should be available on all sides. Check your installation instructions.

I agree with twelvepole.
Your insert must have an approval sticker and along with the approval comes the manufacturers installation instructions.
