I have a problem! I installed a bathtub and set it into mortar when I tried to put on the surround It would nt fit. I opened a outside wall to access the tub and I raised it and put large shims under the tub. My question is how do i secure the tub now that it's on skims and can i sling more mortar under the tub or is there a minimal expanding foam i can use? please help!

ibfish,

Sounds like your walls were not plumb. Adding mortar or joint compound underneath is the best way to ensure a solid foundation. With what you describe, adding shims and now you have a void underneath, it would best to remove unit and reinstall.

Trying to use spray foam is not the answer. This stuff will flex, regardless of how minimum the foam expansion is. DO NOT USE IT. If you do, you will have problems.

If you want it right, re-install.

Good Luck!
