I know it's late in the season to be doing this, but we have a new redwood deck (built 3 or 4 months ago) that was cleaned two days ago and is ready for sealant/stain. It is sunny today, but is due to rain tonight and most of the coming week. Should I take advantage of what is left of the sun and do it today, or should I wait?

It might be risky to paint/seal with moisture in the near forecast. Read the label on the can - there are some coatings that specify no rain for up to 48 hrs.

Keep in mind that wood usually needs a few days after a rain to dry out, so you need quite a few dry days in a row. You might end up waiting til spring.

If it turns out that I do have to wait until spring, is that OK, and, will this compromise the wood in any way? Thanks for the help. Kieron

You'll want to clean it again, but otherwise no problem.
