Hello,
I believe I read somewhere on here when installing the wallboard around a tub, you do not put it over the mounting lip of the tub. If that is true and you set tile all the way to the tub surface, would there be a gap between the tile and the lip of the tub? If so, what do you use to fill it in?
Thanks
Chris D.

I recess the tub lip into the wall studs to allow the wallboard to overlap the tub lip smoothly. The wallboard comes to within 1/4inch of the tub itself. After tiling, I will still have a 1/4inch gap between the tub and the tile.... I use 100% silicone caulking to fill the gap - making sure the tub is filled with water (to make it settle to it's lowest point).. before caulking.......

Thanks, should I use concrete board or standard drywall around the tub?

If you plan on tiling the enclosure, you should use a cement based backerboard - ie; wonderboard, etc.... with a moisture barrier behind it.... plastic sheeting 4 - 6 mil....
