My garage has an asphalt floor that continues out to the driveway. The space over the garage will soon be living space, and I want to run stairs from the second floor down to the asphalt garage floor.
My gut tells me that the asphalt (which has buckled over the years in places) is not a good landing point for the stairs, which will be framed and enclosed.
Should I cut holes in the asphalt to insert concrete pillars, or pour a slab just big enough for the landing?
Other ideas?
Thanks.
