Anyone want to reflect on this:

I'd decided on purchasing a large model insert (probably the Pacific Summit) for a large room in our older home. But when the Pacific rep visited today to make sure all the specs were in order, he suggested that--due to the size of our fireplace opening (48w x 37h)--that we get install a wood stove in our fireplace instead.

He suggested we'd actually get more heat off of it--and I should note the stove does have a blower.

To be frank, the stove would aesthetically look a lot better. But its the heat I'm naturally concerned about.

Incidentally, we don't intend to heat the entire house off the stove. We just want the room--and the first floor to warm up substantially.

Thanks for any input on this.
Anyone else ever try it?
