Recently, the toilet began humming just about anytime the tank refills. It gets worse when I turn on the bathroom faucet while the tank refills. I don't even know where to begin to look so I'm looking for some guidance as to how to relieve this annoying sound.

I would suggest replacing the fill valve for the toilet with a Fluidmaster 400A fill valve. These are about $6 at Home centers and come with great and simple intallation instructions. Good luck.
