I need help in figuring out why our fan is not working. Here is the problem:
The fan and light have been working fine, they are wired with our recess (pocket) lights, all on seperate switches. The fuse is not blown or else the recessed lights would not work, same fuse. The remote for our fan will not work the fan light nor will it work the fan. Switch is in the "on" position, and the pull cords will not operate the fan or the light either. If the transmitter for the remote is bad will this cause the fan to fail (not operate) by the pull cords?? Or is the fan itself burnt up. Thanks in advance for any help.

Possibilities: Pull chains are not in the on position. Battery in the remote transmitter is dead. Remote transmitter has been dropped and the dip switch settings inside got changed. Remote transmitter has failed.Does the remote transmitter have a light on it? Does it come on when you press one of the buttons?

No the remote does not have a light on it, but I put a new out of the package battery in it and it still does not work. The whole fan is dead, even by pulling the pull chains nothing works. Could the wireless transmitter in the fan cause this problem? Now that I have time to work on it today, I'll unhook the transmitter to see if I get power to the fan. Thanks!

The box in the fan is not the transmitter. It's the receiver. The thing you hold in your hand is the transmitter.
Anyway, removing the receiver and connecting the fan directly to the ceiling wires (or testing the ceiling wires with a circuit tester) is a good way to try to isolate the problem.
