Hello, just got an estimate done for some work on our chimney. We have a dual chamber, one for the fire place and other for furnace exhaust. We were quoted $325 for the sealed damper installation on the fireplace, and $399 for a dual chamber cap that is like 36x18 or something close to that. Are those #'s realistic?

If in doubt, get a couple more estimates. Prices of caps vary according to brand, size, and material. Labor varies from area to area. Extra high or difficult installations will add to the cost. Multi-flue caps cost more. Nonstandard size, requiring custom work, will cost more.
