I currently am using a vented gas log in my fireplace and believe I want to convert to a ventless gas log to create more heat for my home. Is this something that could be done easily? Any comments on the ventless system? Thanks!

By going to a ventless system, you will prevent the flow out your chimney and contain the combustion products in the house. It may be OK if everything is perfect, but what is perfect all the time? Anything that upsets the "perfect" burning could be lethal.
You could be subjecting your family to the possibility or carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and other gases. It doesn't sound like it is a good bet when you are only losing a few cents up yhe flue. If you really want to save money, use the gas in a safe, high efficiency furnace. - The odds and returns are much better.

Ventless is not the way to go. See if you can get a blower to go with your existing set up.
Most fireplaces have blower options that will take the air above the firebox and blow it into the room. It acts similar to a warm air funace.
