I just installed cast iron telescoping rods and curtains that hang from rings. The rings get 'stuck' on the bump where the telescoping rod changes from small to large. I cannot pull the curtains closed over this bump. Is there anyway to make the rings slide over the bump?

That's a problem when using these rods. They were meant for stationery panels and I'm afraid there's nothing you can do. Sometimes if you pull fast and hard, you can jump the hump :D

The only problem with pulling fast and hard is that the curtains can tear if the ring doesn't jump the bump.

Whether they tear or not would depend on how they're made (rather how well) and fabric. But just thought of something I read recently. Country Curtains sells something called a curtain tender. Similar to a baton, but doesn't attach permanently, so you can pull curtains open and closed. I'm thinking you could probably lift the ring over the bump with this. A little pricey, but may be worth it to you.

and if the rings are kind that you've clipped onto the fabric, the curtain probably won't tear - it will just pull out of the clip. at least, that's what mine do when i pull too hard.
