Hello,

I am going to be remodeling my bathroom this weekend and I am planning on removing the ceiling. However, there is radiant heat installed in the ceiling.

I went to the attic and looked at it from above and it is copper pipe embedded in cement of some sort.

My question is whether the ceiling is one or two pieces - the ceiling board and then the radiant heat? Or one piece that will not allow me to remove the ceiling without the radiant heat?

EDIT: This is not a new installation it is original to the house ~60yrs.

I would guess given the age of the house that there is a good possibility that it is inbedded in the brown coat of the plaster.

Is it really neccesary to remove the ceiling? Can the present ceiling be refinished to get the look you want?
