Thoughts on basement floor sealing - is it necessary to prevent vapor intrusion. The folks at Radonseal highly recommended sealing the floor in addition to the walls. From a practical/logical standpoint, you would think carpet/padding would tend to "wick" moisture through the slab (although I've never had noticable slab moisture problems before).

In addition, I currently have a 3/4" gap btwn the slab & block wall (from interior french drain installation) - definitely a "path of least resistance" for vapor intrusion into the area btwn the stud wall/insulation and block wall (approx an 6" gap in my situation due to 4" pilasters). Once the basement is finished, this area will be cold, dark, potentaially moist from vapor thru 3/4" gap and no air circulation - apparent ideal conditions for mold/mildew. Just wanting to get it right the first time....any ideas/concerns from the forum folks?

Doug - your thoughts on these issues? Thx, Bill
