Has anyone installed soffits under a deck?
I'm not looking for waterproof, just something that gives off a 'finished look'.
Thoughts?
The price for the soffits that are on my house are a little over $1/lin ft. for 16" wide coverage.

Attach to the ubder side of your deck?
What happens when the snow melts, drips down and freezes on the soffits in the shade?
You can expect this in a couple of weeks - I am just 20 miles east of you!

Wed will be 65 degrees - so there.
Vented soffits to allow for the drip?

Over 20" of snow fifteen years ago today.
Aluminum in the shade could easily freeze shut before it drains through the vents. You can try, but my car does not like to go west to assist on repairs.

I don't think its an overall great idea... might look nice..
Dick mentioned the freeze problem. But what about the fact it will slow the ability of the deck to dry once its wet. You could land up with mold/etc or rotten lumber.

Since I live in MN, the whole global warming thing is ok by me :)
You guys are all over my great idea....
I guess I could install metal roofing at a slope, but I don't think it would as nice..
Other thoughts around that price range?
Dick, you should have been at my house over a year ago when we poured an inside wall in a crawl space to support the weight of the addition and the horizontal pressure from the existing block wall...but since you car does not go west...

rdhamm,
Why not get the benefit of both from one product?
Soffit material is a bad idea, IMHO.

Hope this helps!
