I have a number of 4" recessed lights. I use R20 halogen bulbs. The housing and the bezels are rated for the bulbs I'm using. I find it very difficult to install and remove the bulbs from these fixtures. Is there anything I can use to make it easier to get the bulbs in and out? Any other suggestions.

If the threads on the bulbs tend to stick, hit them with a little WD-40 before installation. If it's a space problem, there are special tools for installing bulbs, usually in tall fixtures, that may work. Kind of hard to describe, but if you look around by the lighting department in your local home store you should find them.

I use a little dab of Noalox on the threads of the lamps before I install them. It makes lamps easy to get in and out of that fixture from then on.

As for spinning them in tight spaces, try a pair of rubber gloves or some made of that sticky shiny silver material (nitrile?). You can unscrew a lamp even if you can only press on the face of it when you wear those gloves.

Thank you for your responses. I tried both and they worked great. The difficulty was not due to the tight spaces. I just needed something to lubricate it.
