Lighting, Light Fixtures, Ceiling and Exhaust Fans - ceiling fan questions

we have two bedrooms upstairs that do not have any ceiling fixtures, but they do have light switches that control a plug on the other wall and there is an attic. We were wondering if we could disconect the wire from the plug and pull it up the wall and pull it accross the ceiling over to the hole that we will cut and just use that to contect to the fan/light? If not could someone tell us how to install them the right way from what wire to use and were and how to conect the wire and so on and so forth? Thank you.

its not a good idea to try and "pull" the cable up the wall. you can rewire the outlet so it is hot all the time regardless of switch position. you need to pull a 14-2 or 14-3 from the switch to the new fan location. i say 14-2 or 14-3 based on the type of fan and the type of switch or switches. use nm-b if allowed in your area or ac also known as bx.

Don't try and pull the wire. It won't come out.
You can make this work by adding anew cable to either the switch box or the switched receptacle box. I recommend a 3 wire cable so you can have separate control of the fan and the light.
