New woodstove for us, to be vented through the wall. How much of the piping needs to be insulated, and how much can be just regular stovepipe? The insulated stuff is SOOO expensive. Sure, I know through the wall needs insulated pipe. We had stovepipe from the stove to the hole in the chimney as a kid. I don't have a chimney now. Can I use just stovepipe ouside the house, or pay like $1500 for the insulated? UGH! Thanks.

Check with a fireplace shop or chimneysweep. The rules change in different areas. Also check your Homeowners Insurance office. Where I live, I can have a built-in fireplace with no problem. If I have a freestanding wood stove I have to have it inspected by the insurance company and pay higher insurance rates. Good luck.
