i'm installing shut-off valves under the bathroom sink, where none existed before. i've installed ball-**** valves onto the supply pipes and installed plastic supply tubes onto the faucet tailpieces. when it came to attaching the supply tubes to the valves, i hit a brick wall of confusion!!!! the valves came with copper compression rings tapered on both ends; yet the plastic supply tubes came with plastic compression rings, tapered only on one end.
which compression rings do i use and if the plastic one... which way does it go on the supply tube?

ICEMAN, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
I would use the rings that came with the valves. The only problem you MAY have is if it leaks, you need an adapter that goes into the end of the tubing. This adapter is to keep the plastic tubing from collapsing when the nut is tightened down. You may not have any problem but I thought you may as well know what the problem is if it does leak. Good luck.

HEY MAGAK,
TKX FOR THE WELCOME AND THE HEADSUP!!! I ALREADY HAD EVERYTHING SETUP AND HOOKED UP AND ONE OF THE PLASTIC TUBES BLEW OFF OF THE SHUT-OFF VALVE. :wall: I HAD THE PLASTIC RINGS IN AT THAT TIME. :( SINCE YOUR REPLY AND THIS NOTE, I'VE REMOVED THE PLASTIC RINGS AND REPLACED THEM WITH THE COPPER ONES. TIME, I GUESS WILL TELL WHETHER OR NOT I'LL BE GOING FOR THE ADAPTER YOU MENTIONED.
