I am in process of planning an addition which will include a master suite. The architect asked if we want a cathedral ceiling. I am thinking about it but wasn't exactly sure what it is other than being high. What is difference between cathedral and vaulted ceilings? I was trying to do search on web and did find some info that says when you insulate the cathedral ceiling you have to leave an air space and the area has to be vented. I then read about a product (NuWool) cellulose insulation and they say that studies show the space should NOT be ventilated but packed tightly with cellulose to prevent air movement (and therefore condensation) into the area and refer to studies that show this is better than leaving an air space. Anyone know anything about this? I have included link to the site.
