I'm trying to plan a basement renovation and considerring a bathroom.
I'll get a contractor in to do the work, but at this point I'm trying to get a better idea of what work would be needed.
Currently, near where my sewage pipe leaves the house (opposite side from where the stuff is upstairs) there is what appears to be a cover on a pipe for a toilet (4 1/2"), another cover (8") which is down about 6" in the cement and a third cover (4 1/4") which comes up at an angle. (They are within 2 feet of each other)
Would the one set down be for a shower with a trap on the bottom?
Would I need a vent to outside from the installation?

Yes. Venting will be needed to complete your system, one of those may serve as the vent. Most times traps are not set initially since there are numerous sizes of showers that can go in its place.
