I have a one-piece Kohler Rialto toilet and I'm attempting to replace the gasket that goes beneath the flush valve-the flapper sits atop the flush valve. I don't see any obvious way of replacing the gasket as it looks like it has to go on first before the flush valve is put on top but don't see how the flush valve is attached. Is this flush valve a "pressure fit" or a screw fitting or is it possible to just try and pull if off or am I courting disaster? The Kohler diagram doesn't really indicate what is needed.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

pikespeakbob, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
I am not sure if the Kohler is the same as the one I had but this is how I changed the gasket.
I lifted the flapper and there was a nut (1/2" I believe) that held the flushing mechanism in place. When I removed the nut, there was a curved piece of brass that held the mechanism to the underside of the bowl. I tilted the bracket and removed it. Then replaced the gasket and reversed the procedure to reinstall. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Unfortunately, there doesen't appear to be any nut that holds the flush valve, either by looking at it from different angles or by the "blow up" diagram on the Kohler parts web page. I almost believe that it's fastened with plumbers putty.
Here's the web page that shows the "inards.": http://www.serviceparts.kohler.com/onlinecatalog/detail.jsp?item=246602&prod_num=3386&frm=1

Since I am not familiar with that model, I have included their website and toll free phone number. Good luck.
