The first shower of the day in my house is lukewarm at best when it's cold outside, but the water runs hot (115 or so) in the bathroom sink. The fixture is a "pull out & twist" style Delta that has another freaky feature - hot and cold are reversed. Had a plumber come look at it and he took it apart, reassembled it, and cold and hot were in the right place. Wife took it apart to clean it a week ago, and now they are reversed again (even though it goes back together the same way it came apart). What's going on???

Cartridges are reversable. It is possible to install them 180° backwards. They will work but the opposite way. You may also have a scaldgard faucet and the temperature can be raised while the cartridge is being reversed. I have included the link for Delta which includes the website and toll free phone number. This may help with finding the settings and positions of your particular shower faucet. Good luck.
