I have a slate hearth on my fireplace that is broken. It needs to be replaced. Someone suggested we put in a brick hearth since he said it would be less expensive and sturdy for the wood insert we'll be putting inside the fireplace soon.

I need instructions on how to do this. Anyone know where I can find those? My only other option is to call a fireplace or chimney store to see if I can have them build one.
