I have terrible mold in the basement of my home. I think it is making my family sick. How do I know whether my policy covers it. I can find any exclusions in my policy.

Do I need to consider anything when I go to talk to my insurance company?

Mold has gotten to be a major issue for insurance companies and they are making efforts to not cover mold. However, they are sometimes on the hook because of the reason the mold is there in the first place. The place to start is to see if you can find out why you have mold - probably a water leak somewhere nearby. Once you know why you have the mold, look over your policy or call your agent to see if that is covered.
